Flags for Honor 2020

For our 2020 Flags for Honor event, participants joined us over Patriot Day Weekend (Sept. 11 – 13) to celebrate distinguished members of our community. We created an awe-inspiring display of American flags based on the donations of community members, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and more. Honorees included:

    • COVID-19 First Responders
    • Law Enforcement Officers
    • Firefighters
    • Active or Reserve U.S. Military Personnel
    • U.S. Military Veterans
    • Mentors, Teachers, and Coaches
    • Healthcare Providers
    • Social Workers
    • Volunteers
    • And many other heroes!

The American flags were displayed at Edgewater Park in Cleveland, Ohio from Sept. 11 – 13 in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. In the park, they were located along the walk to the pavilion, providing a beautiful drive-by viewing opportunity down Route 2.

The honorees are also recognized year-round in our Virtual Flag Dedication where they are acknowledged on the interactive Honoree Map. The flags were also live-streamed on the FBICLECAAA’s Facebook page, providing a terrific opportunity to observe and enjoy the patriotic display from anywhere in the world.

Proceeds helped us raise $6,000 for both MedWish and Medworks, two local nonprofit organizations that support our local communities on the front-lines of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing essential medical supplies, protective gear, food, and healthcare services. We are proud to have helped support their missions!

Flags for Honor is an annual event where you can dedicate a beautiful American flag to show your appreciation for those who have made an impact in your life by helping, guiding, or inspiring you. The vibrant display of American Flags is erected as a patriotic tribute to honorees. A postponement date will be announced in the near future. Current and past honorees are also acknowledged in our Virtual Flag Dedication with an interactive Honoree Map that displays the name, location, and description of each year’s honorees.

Community members, businesses, and organizations love honoring their heroes, mentors, and loved ones with Flags for Honor. Each year, flags are placed in honor of local heroes, including servicemen and women, first responders, teachers, family members, EMTs, doctors and hospital workers, or anyone who has been a source of inspiration. The 2020 Flags for Honor event will certainly thank and salute those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The flags will be proudly erected in Edgewater Park in Cleveland, Ohio. The patriotic display of American flags can also be observed while driving down Route 2. The flags will also be live-streamed on the FBICLECAAA Facebook page.

50% of all proceeds will be split equally between MedWish and Medworks. MedWish and Medworks are supporting our local communities on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing essential medical supplies, protective gear, food, and healthcare services. We are proud to help support their mission! The remaining 50% will benefit the FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy Alumni Association to cover event costs, along with supporting our mission of creating safer communities in Northeast Ohio and helping to encourage appreciation for law enforcement.
